Dates Confirmed for Men's & Women's NACRA Sevens

2009 Sevens

The 2010 NACRA Men's Sevens is all set to take place in Georgetown, Guyana, July 29th and 30th 2010. The winner of the tournament will not only be crowned the regional Caribbean Championship but also secure their place in the 2011 PANAM Games alongside fellow NACRA Members Canada and the USA and host Union Mexico.   

Bahamas will be looking to continue their impressive development in the shortened game, which saw them collect the Plate trophy in Mexico City in November 2009, while the Cayman Islands will be looking to make it through to the semi-finals and beyond for the first time at a NACRA Sevens tournament.

In the same event in 2009, in Mexico City, Guyana narrowly defeated neighbours Trinidad & Tobago 12-10 in the final, to retain their Caribbean sevens trophy.

Womens Sevens 2009

The NACRA Women's Sevens is scheduled to take place in Georgetown, Guyana, on Monday and Tuesday July 26th and 27th 2010. The tournament will take place the day following the inaugural CACSO Games Sevens which takes place over the weekend on Saturday and Sunday, July 24th and 25th.

 

Guyana women will be out to retain their crown that they won convincingly in Mexico in 2009, though should find tough opposition from Trinidad & Tobago who did not compete in Mexico and who historically have a good track record at both 15 a-side and the Sevens game.

 

Mexico v BahamasCayman Islands and Mexico (the latter making their debut in 2009) should continue to show improvement and make life difficult for their opposition, while Jamaica, previous winners of the Caribbean Women's sevens, once again will prove an unknown force.

Teams participating are - Guyana, Mexico, Cayman, T&T, Jamaica, Bahamas, Columbia & Venezuela.
 

Women's NACRA Sevens - Mon & Tue July 26th & 27th

Open to all Members of NACRA, as well as national teams from the region who are non NACRA members.
 

Men's NACRA Sevens - Thur & Fri July 29th & 30th

Open to all Members of NACRA, as well as national teams from the region who are non NACRA members.
 

Note: In relation to the NACRA Sevens, only NACRA Members will be eligible for a tournament subsidy.
